Your Personal Elopement Guide
Let’s begin with the most important question. Why? Why do people elope? More specifically, why should YOU elope?
On my wedding day, cousins, aunts, uncles and immediate family came to support us. We ate delicious food. We danced and sang through the evening. Yes, I am grateful for the memories I have of that day! But now as I look back, I realize I didn’t even know what I wanted.
After having years of experience capturing special moments through camera and helping couples plan a day just for themselves, I wish I would’ve planned my wedding day around just Caleb and I. I wish every detail felt significant and intentional. Instead I had more of the attitude of, “ya that’s good enough.” Number ONE rule of eloping: let’s not settle for good enough. This is your day. Let’s celebrate it the way you WANT!

Florists You NEED For Your Elopement In Utah
Flowers add beauty, elegance and personality to any elopement. So bring on the FLOWERS!
But I’m PICKY when it comes to working with florists. If I learned anything from the one floral arranging class I took in University, it’s that floral arranging takes time, and the best florists don’t cut corners.
I make sure to work with florists who hand-pick a mixture of filler flowers and larger more extravagant flowers, like Lilies, Orchids and Roses; this adds an additional pop of color, texture and dimension to any elopement photography session.
*I’m a succor for florists who take advantage of wild flowers and the airy look of fields of wheat.
I love working with florists who arrange custom bouquets and centerpieces with their clients color scheme and envisioned design in mind. Whether you’re going for ‘whimsical, boho, rustic’ or ‘elegant, classic, refined,’ the right florist will help your vision come to life.
Below you’ll find a handful of Utah’s best florists so you get everything you NEED on your elopement day. You can be sure the florists below are 100% Kim Captures approved!

4 Reasons Why You Should Elope in Fall
When I’m meeting with my clients who want to elope in Utah, I ask them questions to help them decide what they want for their special day. Where do you want to elope? Are you going to invite anyone? How many people will be there? What vibe do you imagine? Do you want first looks, private vows, etc.? But one of my favorite questions has to be: what time of year?
Be it simple, this question runs the show. ‘When’ my couples elope determines weather conditions, ambiance, scenery, and ‘when’ showcases unique treasures that can only be found during specific season in Utah. My personal favorite season, in the state of the Wasatch Front and out-of-this-world rock arches and sculptures, hands down has to be the fall. Its’ short burst of color before the snow hits the ground and the brisk morning air brings with it many convincing reasons why you should plan your wedding during this time of year.
